Foam is the way of the world. The bridge between earthly and cosmic realms, suggesting a connection between heaven and our world. Few have seen the foam.
The scene opens with a young girl, Towa, lying in her bed in a peculiar neighborhood full of vibrant colors and clear blue skies. The world outside her window is filled with endless, joyful chatter as the townspeople play the same games every day with matching bright smiles and unchanging gazes.
INT. TOWA'S BEDROOM - MORNING
Towa, her head pounding, sits up wondering what time it is. She yawns deeply, clasps her hair in her hands, and stretches. Her room is full of bright colors that mirror the scene outside. She rises and walks to the window, opening it and staring outside. The sky is vast and blue, a sight like an endless ocean.
She knows better than to stare too long.
TOWA
(softly to herself)
Every time I stare at the blue too long, it just makes me woozy.
She shakes her head in frustration and turns away from the window, muttering.
TOWA
(sarcastically)
This is stupid.
As she turns her head, the camera pans to her eyes in a motion capture way, breaking the fourth wall, and we transition into a different realm.
EXT. FOAM REALM - DAY
Towa finds herself in a realm of softness and loneliness. The world around her shifts to an ethereal landscape dominated by foam. The ground is covered in thick layers of white foam, which shifts and sways gently. The sky above is a muted shade of blue, as if someone has taken a thick brushstroke of the town's sky and softened it with water.
Towa walks slowly through the foam, the sound of her footsteps muffled by its softness. The realm feels peaceful yet eerie, and she senses an otherworldly presence around her. She can hear faint whispers in the distance, as if the foam itself is trying to communicate with her.
As she walks, Towa notices shadowy figures emerging from the foam—people she recognizes from her neighborhood, but their expressions are different now. They seem lost, almost as though they've become echoes of their former selves.
Towa
(whispering to herself)
What is this place? What's happened to them?
The foam begins to rise, and Towa finds herself enveloped in its embrace. For a moment, she feels calm and protected, but soon the foam starts to swirl around her, disorienting her. She tries to break free, but the foam seems to have a hold on her, keeping her in this strange realm.
Towa's struggle intensifies as she realizes that the foam isn't just a landscape—it's alive, and it has a connection to the town she comes from. The same calm and uniformity that characterizes her neighborhood has spilled over into this realm, where the foam serves as a bridge between the two.
She senses that the foam is trying to communicate with her, perhaps warning her of something unknown. As she fights her way out, she begins to understand the danger that lies in the foam's soft embrace. It represents the potential for losing oneself, as the townspeople who are now mere shadows of who they once were.
Finally, Towa breaks free from the foam's grasp and finds herself back in her room, gasping for breath. The scene is eerily similar to how she left it, but something has changed within her.
She stares out of the window again, but this time, she is determined to find answers about the mystery of her neighborhood and the foam realm she just encountered.
